Air source heat pumps can offer significantly higher levels of efficiency when compared to traditional methods of heating. They are easy to install and suitable for a wide variety of properties.

Air source heat pump systems comprise an external box fitted to the outside wall which harvests renewable, low grade energy from the outdoor air and upgrades this into useful heat to supply the building with hot water and heating.  For every 1kW of electricity fed into the system, at least 3kW of heating energy is output.

Systems are available to work from about 1.5kW to 15kW with 3-phase options for the largest units. The units work efficiently all year round, at temperatures as low as -15ºC. In the majority of properties, systems can help to reduce running costs, lower CO2 emissions* and offer reliable, sustainable heating and hot water all year round.

Systems can be retro-fitted to almost any property built from the 1970’s onwards and older properties that have been thermally upgraded can also benefit from this low carbon alternative to traditional domestic hot water systems. The systems has shown great potential for use in social housing schemes as it is cheaper to run and more carbon-friendly than conventional heating methods.
